This book was exactly what I needed when I was first learning the art of pleasuring myself. Certainly there are others out there but it served me (pardon the pun) VERY well. I especially enjoyed the pictures and the thought of participating in the workshops the author discusses. While it may not offer much to those more experienced, it is a good read for some, particularly women who may be less experienced with self-pleasuring and nervous about knowing where to start.
This book is mostly autobiographical, and mostly anecdotes from her workshops. I am quite suprised that someone would say this book is about solo sex. The one chapter that approaches what I would have expected from this book is just not helpful - light candles, take a bath, give yourself a massage. Pick yourself a vibrator or dildo (or a few). Not much more than that. I had a friend who told me how she used some anal balls, which had never occurred to me. I was thinking there would be some new ideas beyond "do what feels good".
