Down There Press Titles Named as Finalists for Benjamin Franklin Award

San Francisco, CA -- April 27, 2004 -- Down There Press is celebrating National Masturbation Month with the news that two of its titles have been named as Finalists for book industry awards. Winners will be announced at the upcoming Book Expo America trade show in Chicago.

The Big Book of Masturbation, by Martha Cornog of Philadelphia, is one of three finalists in the 2004 Benjamin Franklin Awards competition, in the Reference Book category. The winner of this award for excellence in publishing, sponsored by the Publishers Marketing Association, will be announced at a reception on June 2. PMA is the largest association of independent publishers in the U.S.

Library Journal calls The Big Book of Masturbation "particularly well-done and balanced," and Contemporary Sexuality describes it as "a joy to read --a remarkable combination of substantive information and savvy analysis." The Electronic Journal of Sexuality suggests it be studied "by every parent, young person and adult interested in a healthy sexual life," while Wayne & Tamara.com praise the author, "who writes with a scholar's care and popular writer's flair for the well-turned phrase." The Big Book of Masturbation is also a selection of Quality Paperback Book Club.

Any 2 People, Kissing, by Kate Dominic of Los Angeles, is a finalist in the Fiction/Short Stories category of Foreword Magazine's Book of the Year competition. Foreword Magazine is the premier source of reviews and information about independent publishing for libraries, bookstores, and other trade professionals. The award winner will be selected for editorial excellence and professional production, and announced on June 3.

Any 2 People, Kissing is a sizzling collection of erotica from a writer comfortable writing in personas that range up and down the Kinsey Scale.

FearlessReviews.com writes that the author "manages to bring a fresh voice to the oldest genre," and LibidoMag.com writes that the collection "will arouse and please long after the pages are well worn."
