Good Vibrations to Host Swank Soiree for Dr. Barbara Keesling Professor, Therapist & Former Sex Surrogate Publishes 12th Book, Opus: "Sexual Healing"

(ALAMEDA, CA--Feb. 13, 2006) Author, California State University professor and 1995 Playboy Playmate, Dr. Barbara Keesling will raise a glass of wine with San Franciscans to toast the release of her twelfth book, SEXUAL HEALING. Good Vibrations' will host the wine and hors d'oeuvres party on Thursday, January 23, 2006 starting at 7:30 pm at the Valencia Street store. Although many notable Bay Area sexologists will attend, the party is free and open to the public. The following day, Friday, February 24, at 4:00 pm, Keesling will greet readers, answer questions and sign books at Good Vibrations' Berkeley store. (A third event will be held at Open Secret Bookstore in San Rafael on Friday, February 24, at 7:30 pm.)

"Clearly, there is no better place from which to release SEXUAL HEALING out into the world than Good Vibrations in San Francisco-whether we're talking about my book or the concept itself," says Keesling, who spent 20 years working as a sex therapist and surrogate partner. "Good Vibrations has provided the community with the tools to discover ones healthiest, most vibrant sexual selves for nearly 30 years," she adds. "I like to think that my book is one of those tools."

Keesling's experiences working skin-on-skin with hundreds of clients, together with her academic work and teaching, make her uniquely qualified to address the subject of sexual health and healing. "I wrote this book for those who are interested in the healing power of sexuality, for those who want to learn to make love in the deepest sense of the word-not just with their bodies but with their hearts, minds and souls," says the author.

Keesling feels that SEXUAL HEALING is her most important book. An"everything-but-the-kitchen-sink" guide to every known sexual problem and all treatments, including much that is new and experimental, it has been published in two previous editions. With 80% new material and an expansion to a substantial 400 pages, the third edition is more like a new book. It is meant to be the definitive book on the subject.

SEXUAL HEALTH STATISTICS:
In the U.S. approximately 43% of women and 31% of men experience sexual problems (Journal of the American Medical Association). Although sexual dysfunction is often associated with middle-aged men-30 million experience erectile dysfunction, or impotence (National Institute of Health)-it is actually highest among younger women, with 21% aged 18 to 29 reporting physical pain with intercourse (University of Chicago Center for Sexual and Marital Health). Unfortunately, sexual dysfunction may negatively impact a person's ability to form or sustain intimate relationships (Journal of Sex Research).
