Most of our events are open to everybody. However, some are designated for particular groups. If an event description says "women only" or "men only," anyone who identifies with that gender is welcome to attend. Events for couples do not require you to be romantic or sexual partners, but you do need to attend as a pair. So if you have a close friend you want to come with, feel free!
For paid workshops, we strongly recommend reserving your seat. Some of our classes fill up and signing up early will make sure you can attend them. Other workshops have smaller attendance and we may cancel an event if only a few people are registered in advance. Early pre-registration is the best way to avoid disappointment. You can click on the link in the workshop description or call us at 415-345-0400 to sign up. We are unable to honor refunds if the request is communicated after the actual date of the workshop.

The history of the vibrator is a fascinating one, and Good Vibrations gladly sheds light on the unlikely origins of its industry. The electric vibrator had its inception in 1869 with the invention of a steam-powered massager, patented by an American doctor. This device was designed as a medical tool for treating what was called "hysteria," or "female disorders." Within 20 years a British doctor followed up with a more portable battery-operated model; by 1900, dozens of styles of electric vibrators, just like those in our exhibit, were available to the discriminating medical professional.
