Maggie Mayhem is a sex worker and educator who has spent 6 years in the field of HIV prevention. She divides her time between writing about sex, teaching people about sex, and finding new and innovative ways to have sex. When she began volunteering as an HIV test counselor in 2004 she had no idea how drastically it would change the direction of her life. When she began her university studies she had aspirations of becoming a lawyer but after leading a few workshops on safer sex she realized that she had stumbled upon her calling. She has worked as the HIV senior specialist for an agency serving homeless youth, led sex education workshops in Swahili for secondary students in Tanzania, Africa, and is a supervisor at the San Francisco Sex Information Hotline. Motivated by a desire to promote sex positivity, Maggie entered the world of fetish modeling in 2008. "It never seemed safe for someone like me to come out about my sexuality and desires until someone actually did. Modeling and performing has allowed me to connect with people around the world and become an active and public participant in a culture of change for sexuality."
