San Francisco, CA -- (December 2nd, 2010): Just weeks before Good Vibrations opens its newest store in downtown San Francisco, the iconic company has been recognized by the adult industry with a nomination for Best Retail Chain, and its Polk Street (San Francisco) store in particular singled out for nomination as Best Retail Store in the West. GoodVibes.com, its online presence, has also been nominated for Best Retail Website.

These are nominations for the most prestigious awards in the adult industry, the 2011 AVN Awards, sponsored by Adult Video News. Dubbed the "Oscars of Adult Entertainment" and recognizing companies and products as well as movies and performers, the AVN Awards mark the best and most notable in adult entertainment.

Also honored with nominations are several 2010 movie productions by Good Vibrations' sister company, Good Releasing, which offers various lines of adult titles and educational films. Representing independent artists creating authentic and diverse erotic content, all three of Good Releasing's award-nominated lines -- Pleasure-Ed Series, HeartCore Films, and Reel Queer Productions -- have won recognition by the AVN Nominations Committee.

Jackie Strano, Producer/Director for Good Releasing and COO Good Vibrations says, "We are very pleased and proud of these nominations. This past year was very busy and it's rewarding to have the industry recognize those efforts. Just wait until you see what 2011 has to offer."

The Pleasure-Ed Series' Going Down: The Official Guide to Cunnilingus has been nominated for Best Educational Release of 2010. Hosted and scripted by Good Vibrations Staff Sexologist Dr. Carol Queen, Pleasure-Ed movies showcase real couples and erotic performers eager to represent sex in a hot and informative way that will enhance viewers' sexual knowledge and pleasure.

HeartCore Films, nominated for Best New Line, released titles which garnered six AVN Award nominations: Madison Young's The Curse of Macbeth, a post-apocalyptic erotic envisioning of the classic Shakespearian tragedy, made the Best BDSM category; Carlos Batts' Dangerous Curves, featuring a buxom cast including his big, beautiful wife and muse April Flores, has won a nod in the Best Specialty/Other category (this film was also a 2010 winner at the Feminist Porn Awards, where it was awarded “Most Deliciously Diverse Cast”); and a Best Music nomination (score by the Meatmen) goes to Turbo Rock, revisiting the raunchy era of rock as conceived and directed by renowned fetish photographer and award-winning director Dave Naz.

Finally, Mandy Candy, which upon release garnered a 4 1/2 star rating from AVN, racks up three nominations: Best High-End All-Sex Release, Best Videography and Best Editing. Kimberly Kane directs, showcasing her friend and inspiration, the incandescent Mandy Morbid, in a scorching alt-porn tour de force.

Reel Queer Productions gets a nod for Best Pro-Am Release. Courtney Trouble’s Seven Minutes in Heaven: Coming Out! is an unscripted sex-fest where the amateur cast picks their own partners, their own sex toys and their own ways of getting off. Also nominated for 2010 Feminist Porn Awards, Seven Minutes represents the first-ever gonzo queer film series in an industry already amply-supplied with the heterosexual version.

"A lot time, effort and passion was put towards each of these productions," says Good Releasing Producer Coyote Days. "It's inspiring to see each of them acknowledged by the authority in adult video."

In addition to these nominations, Good Vibrations' original founder Joani Blank will be inducted into the ranks of the AVN Hall of Fame; marking the first time sex toy manufacturers and retailers have been included in the Hall of Fame Founders Branch, she will serve as one of four Pleasure Products honorees (and the only retailer). The AVN Hall of Fame adds new members each year, honoring the legends of the adult entertainment industry. For her pioneering commitment to women's pleasure (and pleasure products), Joani, who founded Good Vibrations in 1977, receives richly-deserved recognition as an adult industry visionary.

The AVN Awards are the culminating event of the annual Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas (January 6-9, 2011). Good Vibrations Staff Sexologist Dr. Carol Queen joins a panel discussion, “In the Company of Women,” on Friday, January 7, 1:00-2:30 pm. The AVN Awards ceremony will be held on Saturday, January 8, at the Pearl Theatre inside the Palms Hotel & Casino. Tori Black, 2010 Female Performer of the Year, and Riley Steele co-host.
