The Center for Sex & Culture Welcomes a Legend: Xaviera Hollander

(SAN FRANCISCO February 6, 2006) -- The Center for Sex & Culture, San Francisco's "Best Emerging Sex Non-Profit (SF Bay Guardian, 2004), is delighted to announce a rare visit from the Happy Hooker herself, Xaviera Hollander. The legendary Xaviera visits to introduce a new documentary by Robert Dunlap about her one-of-a-kind life. Titled "Xaviera Hollander: The Happy Hooker," Dunlap's film examines Hollander's personal impact and cultural importance. Xaviera revolutionized talk of sex and prostitution in the 1970s with her tell-all book, then continued to dispense savvy, frisky, good-humored sex advice through her long-running Penthouse column. She lives in Europe and rarely visits San Francisco, so this is a don't-miss event!

Doors open at 6:00 pm on Saturday, February 11, at the Center for Sex & Culture, 398 11th Street at Harrison in San Francisco. Cost is $10-40 sliding scale. The movie starts at 7:00 pm, followed by an opportunity for Q&A with Xaviera. The movie's executive producer, J.P. Patti will be present as well.

Xaviera will be back at the Center for Sex and Culture on February 12, from 1:00-4:30 pm to do a workshop with local Sexological Bodyworkers (and real-life partners) Dragon and Soleil: Love, Lust and Longevity! In this intimate Sunday afternoon workshop, limited to 30 participants, "expect to share insights, laughter, and experience," says co-facilitator and workshop organizer Soleil. "Be prepared to get comfortable, talk about sex and relationship, laugh, and learn the two sexual techniques that, whatever your age, will transform your sex life, heal your body and your relationship(s) and bring you dependable pleasure alone or with a beloved for the rest of your (long) life."

Open to all genders and sexual orientations. Bring something to sit on (towel or sarong). Please arrive between 12:30 and 1:00. $25 per person, $45 for couples. At CSC; please RSVP to (415) 255-1155 or mail@sexandculture.org.
