Good Vibrations Announces Educational Alliance with the Center For Sex and Culture

SAN FRANCISCO (Feb 2, 2006): Good Vibrations, the Bay Area's legendary destination for sex toys, personal care products and accurate sexual information, announces a formal partnership with the Center for Sex and Culture, a sex-positive, educational non-profit in San Francisco. The co-sponsorship with the Center for Sex and Culture allows Good Vibrations to further expand its original mission of providing open-minded sexual education to all who seek it.

"Education has always been the cornerstone of our business philosophy since opening our first store almost thirty years ago. The partnership with the Center for Sex and Culture provides us the ability to ramp up the quality while extending the outreach of our sex education as we continue to grow and open stores on both coasts," affirms Theresa Sparks, General Manager of Good Vibrations.

The Center for Sex and Culture (CSC) was founded in 2000 to provide a non-judgmental, sex positive sexual educational support to diverse populations by means of classes, workshops, cultural events, social gatherings and practical skills-building events. The center also houses a large library and archive of publicly accessible sex education books, periodicals, and significant papers. It attracts sex education scholars, journalists, writers and researchers worldwide.

"The Center for Sex and Culture is honored to be formally associated with Good Vibrations. This partnership offers us the ability to continue building and archiving our library and educating the public at large in all things sexual," comment co-founding partners for the Center for Sex and Culture, Carol Queen, Ph.D. and Robert Lawrence, Ed.D. in a joint statement. "Unfortunately accurate and pleasure-positive sex education is not a priority in this country now, which is one reason every adult might wish to access our resources."

Over a period of a few months, Good Vibrations will be handing over the bulk of its ongoing educational outreach programming to the Center for Sex and Culture. The non-profit partner will take the reins of developing sexuality trainings and sexual issues curricula for community groups, agencies, companies, associations, organizations, universities and colleges that Good Vibrations has offered nationally since 1977. CSC expects to expand the scope of this educational programming.

All of the Good Vibrations After-Hours Workshops will be co-sponsored by both the Center for Sex and Culture and Good Vibrations. Workshops and classes will be held at all of our store locations including the San Francisco stores on Polk and Valencia Streets, the Berkeley store on San Pablo Avenue, the Brookline, MA store on Harvard Street; and at the Center for Sex and Culture on 11th Street in San Francisco.
