Good Vibrations Expands its Retail Presence Into the Greater Boston Area

SAN FRANCISCO (January 2006): Good Vibrations, the Bay Area's legendary destination for sex toys, personal care products and accurate sexual information, announces the opening of a new store in the "other city by the bay"- Boston. After almost thirty years of being an exclusive west coast retailer, we will open our doors on January 20th, 2006 in the Coolidge Corner area of Brookline, a community adjacent to Boston.

"We have been exploring an East Coast expansion strategy for several months and feel that the greater Boston area is the best selection for our first step in our overall expansion plans," asserts Theresa Sparks, General Manager of Good Vibrations.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, there are currently over 400,000 college students in the greater Boston area, meaning that in one out of eight US college students reside in the vicinity. "Good Vibrations was founded on the premise of providing up-to-date sexual education to all who sought it and naturally we have worked in partnership with all the Bay Area colleges and universities. Partnering with and serving the 45 plus Boston area colleges and universities is a natural next step for us," Sparks concludes.

Good Vibrations was the first company in the industry to employ a doctor of human sexuality. Staff Sexologist Carol Queen, PhD, has been with Good Vibrations for 16 years and is well known worldwide for her nine books, sex education videos, and a multitude of television appearances, hundreds of interviews, industry columns and published articles. She has been the company's sex education spokesperson since 1992 and has spoken at many of the colleges and universities in Western Massachusetts as well as Yale.

"Our new store will offer the same educational outreach programs that Good Vibrations has always offered since the first store was opened," Carol Queen, PhD says adding, "I'm thrilled that we have finalized our new location and will be able to open before Valentines' Day."

The address of the new Good Vibrations is 308-A Harvard Street (entrance on the parking lot) in Brookline, MA. For more information, press kits or to request an interview, kindly contact Karin Tobiason at ktobiason@goodvibes.com.

Good Vibrations History
In 1977, dismayed by the lack of resources for women seeking accurate sex information and good quality sex toys, the first Good Vibrations retail store was opened in San Francisco. It was the first of its kind, a friendly, clean, well-lighted alternative to the conventional "adult" bookstore. The store flourished over the years due to word of mouth and a faithful clientele.
