Edited by Dian Hanson with Text by Jamie Maclean
Almost half a century after his death, this obscure commercial illustrator’s hidden erotic art has been published by Taschen in a beautiful hardcover volume. Tom Poulton’s drawings of joyous and uninhibited sexuality are at odds with the buttoned up image of post-war Britain and part of the enormous appeal of this book. Using a soft graphite pencil, Poulton drew exuberantly masturbating women, surprised adulterous couples, orgies, lesbians, golden showers, and May-December pairings in a huge range of sexual expression. His finished illustrations and informal sketches explicitly render carnal rapture with affection, sensuality, and passion. 2006, 224 pp.
