Certain young female celebrities seem to hate panties these days… but if they saw this book, they might change their mind. Underdressed follows a multi-ethnic group of three girl friends as they spend a sensual night playing dress-up with slight and lacy lingerie. The rich color and black & white photographs include detailed shots of bras, panties, and corsets for voyeuristic delight in this small format picture book. Originally in French, the accompanying minimal text describes the history of lingerie and its changing social role. A sprinkling of archival illustrations and photos of remarkable foundation garments in film (hello, Sophia Loren!) contrast with the chic contemporary underwear of this risqué girls’ night in.
